Deleware School District Reverses Decision

Well, the school district that said the kid had to go to a reform school for 45 days for bringing a combination fork-spoon-knife to school because he was excited about joining the Cub Scouts and wanted to use it during lunch has reversed its decision after changing it’s “strict code of conduct.”
SOURCE – The seven-member Christina School Board voted unanimously to reduce the punishment for kindergartners and first-graders who take weapons to school or commit violent offenses to a suspension ranging from three to five days.
Zachary Christie, 6, had faced 45 days in an alternative school for troublemakers after he took the utensil to school to eat lunch last month. Now, he could return Wednesday.
About damned time these people got their heads out of their asses and gave this kid a break. He didn’t take it there to shank a bully who was beating him up. All he wanted to do was use it for his lunch (and show it off to his friends). He’s still gonna be suspended, but at least he gets to go back tomorrow. I honestly don’t think the kid should have had any punishment handed to him. For fuck’s sake, he’s 6 years old! The only thing he was planning to stab with it was the stale bread in the cheese rarebit. If, IF, the school board wanted to hand out a punishment, they should have done something to the parents. How many of you out there with kids between 5 and 8 don’t know what’s in their back-packs, pockets, etc?
