Revisiting an Old Friend
Back in my younger years, when my buddies and I went out, we had one thing in mind: get TRASHED! I decided one night I wanted to try something new that would get me messed up quick. The bartender suggested I try a Snakebite. I’d never heard of it before, so decided to try it. After my first shot, I was hooked. It was smooth with almost no burn at all, which surprised me because it’s made with Yukon Jack. (I would later find out that Yukon got it’s name because if you drink too much of it, you yuke on everything.) I would go on to have at least one of these every time we went out for the next few years. What finally brought an end to my relationship with this wondrous drink? An uneducated bartender. She didn’t know how to make it, and put way too much lime juice in it. Unfortunately, I was all ready drunk and didn’t realize it until it was too late. I ended up yuking for about a half an hour when I got home that night. Except for a certain Monday night with Dave at the local watering hole, I haven’t touched the stuff since.
Anyway, here’s a video from Art of the Drink telling you all about the Snakebite – both the US version and the “wrong” version. And make sure you check out the links after the video for more drinking stuff.
