People all over the world have accused Americans of being weak in a lot of things – especially our beer. If they only knew the truth of the matter. My Bad Pad has compiled a list of the top 55 beers that will knock you on your ass sorted by the amount of Alcohol by Volume (ABV). Of this list, 39 of them are brewed right here in the good old U S of A, including the #1 beer, with a whopping 17% ABV, Sam Adams Triple Bock. Visit their site to see the rest of the list.

I’m actually surprised there aren’t any ice beers on the list. Any beer that makes you forget how you got home, wet the bed and wake up to a bathroom full of your own puke should definitely make a list of beers that will knock you on your ass. There were a couple of surprises on the list – to me anyway. The first is that, other than Sam Adams brewery, there aren’t any big name breweries on the list. The second surprise is that one of our local breweries is – the Southern Tier Brewing Company. I’ve tried a couple of their brews, and wasn’t impressed. Not saying they were bad, just not for me. I’ll definitely try a few more. You know, to help the local economy.
